From the production of its first models, Breitling was a pioneer in developing new functions. In 1915, Breitling developed the first wristwatch chronograph, in 1930 the launched the patented Vitesse stopwatch. In 1952, Breitling has developed the navigation computer which was able to handle all flight plan calculations. In 1969, Breitling invented a self-winding chronograph movement. Breitling is also an inventor of SuperQuartz technology, launched in 2001, it is ten times more accurate comparing to standard quartz.
